Bring out the ham, this turkey is finished

We’ve been plodding away dutifully at our turkey joint–a stuffed crown prepared jobbie–and at lunchtime today Graham announced that we’ve done.

“Just a couple of scraps left,” he said.  “Not enough for a decent sandwich, leave alone a proper meal.”

“Aren’t we good boys, then.  Time to bring out the ham?”

“Yup.  We shall start it for dinner tonight.”

“Yummity scrummity.”

And so the Christmas feast goes on, day to day.  Full tummy and empty head, that’s me.

  1. My lunch today is fresh bread and butter, with thick slabs of leftover ham (and some horseradish!) inside. Mmmm…

  2. Pork roast at our house. Lots and lots of pork roast.

We were Turkey’d out after Thanksgiving. But we should have had a pork roast, I’m sick of lasagna. Only now, I’m dying for a ham and horseradish sandwich.

  4. Oh your head is far from empty!

  5. After Christmas dinner leftovers for Monday night’s dinner, plus turkey sandwiches for lunch today, there is just about enough turkey left for a sandwich tomorrow. Since I don’t feel like going shopping, I think I am going to make either clam cakes or crab cakes for dinner tonight.

Enjoy your ham dinner. I’m afraid that might be a bit too much sodium for me. (My blood pressure has been creeping up, probably due to too much eating of things I shouldn’t be eating over the past month or so. Time for me to get back on my sodium-restricted diet.

  6. Sounds scrumptious. Our ham is to the leftover stages. Mundane but fun. :)

  7. It’s so good to catch up with you and Graham, John. It sounds like a merry time in the little house under the pines, even with the current health problems. I hope you’re both feeling much better soon. My husband passed away on the 19th peacefully at home after a long struggle following hip surgeries last winter. But our large family still made it a good, if different, Christmas. Hope to see you back here often in the future.
