Family visit

Thursday June 24, 2010

This morning to Graham’s mother’s for a short visit bearing fresh cake from Morrison’s.  The poor old dear has been unwell for over a week, having contracted some kind of bug that a local hospital doctor suspected came from foreign parts, insisting that she must have been abroad recently.  She hasn’t, but she did spend an afternoon in the company of an old friend who’d just got back from Australia, calling in at several tropical places en-route.  These old folks seldom take the precaution of travel shots so our suspicion tends to that direction.

Anyway, the old lady is more or less over it but very, very tired.  And yet she’s determined to go off on holiday herself at the weekend.  Graham is worried but there’s nothing to be done about it.

And then, home, feeling rather weary myself.  I think I shall give foreign travel a miss this year.

  1. No Greek island?

Not this year, Wendy… the flight isn’t a thing I want to face just now, and it’s too far to drive!

  2. Do understand Graham’s worries.

  3. It’s so good to be hearing from you again, John, whenever you get the urge to update us.

    Good wishes to Graham’s mother.

Ah, I thought the same thing as Wendy… that you and Graham might seek out Greece this year. I know you’ve talked about it in the recent past.

Good to give it a miss though ~ seems everyone is getting something or other this summer. Hope Grahams mother doesn’t overdo it. Would hate to see her relapse.

  5. :) I SO understand Graham’s mum…. I have one like that too and I admire her courage and a certain stubbornness…
I also understand Graham’s worries – I share those too!
When the sun is shining in UK, you are just as well where you are than elsewhere. Look after yourselves, friends…. you’ll be alright!
And cross your fingers for ‘mum’…. she might need it! :)

  6. Given the way the Greeks are busy rioting and setting fires I doubt that Greece would be very high on my list of locales for a peaceful and relaxing vacation.

I hope Graham’s mom recovers quickly.

  7. Just think what you’re missing. No early morning flight, no checking in ,no holiday tummy or cancelled flights…..

  8. I hope Grahams mom is feeling better soon! It’s so nice to have you back. I hav so missed you.

  9. That Tweet, “The sun has risen high…” is a poem, Sir!!!

Just back from a rather damp trip to Japan. All the best to Graham’s mum! Surely hope she is feeling chipper very soon.

  10. We are glad you are fine but sorry she is not. Hope Graham is better.
