Day off, waiting for new horizon

I’m taking a day off today and will be back tomorrow.  I don’t promise not to take another day off tomorrow but that’s in another world, over a horizon of sleep and a further rotation of the globe.

    Please give yourself the time you need, John. We’ll miss you but will all be sitting right here waiting to read your billets-doux whenever you are able to resume them. Meanwhile, pull Dolly closer and give her a few strokes. Works wonders for both parties. I can attest and feel sure Momma Kitty agrees.

    Enjoy your day off! One of my students told me today, “The air is soft and gentle. Spring is coming very soon.” The official first day of spring here is Lunar New Year (Feb. 14 this year), but “winter’s back is broken,” as we say in Maine. There have been three nights without frost, and a soaking rain. I’m keeping an eye on the magnolia buds, and they are slightly fatter!
