Who’s sorry now?

It’s just coming round to Norton renewal time again.  Blasted thing keeps flashing up a focus-grabbing box warning me that my protection is about to end and recommending a £45 subscription renewal.  Well, foopy-whuckin-do.  I ordered a 3-machine £22 new copy from Amazon and it arrived today.  I’ve forgotten the actual date when the present one expires so I’ll wait for the pop-up box to remind me and then schedule a day to install the new copy.

The new copy’s 1-year life will start on the date of installation, so I’m not about to give Norton a day’s more income than they already screw out of me, and other timid computer users like me.

And we think Windows is an expensive rip-off!

I suppose I should count myself fortunate that I can afford to play with this expensive toy.  On the other hand, with everything disappearing into the ‘cloud’, it may be that we’ll be able to do very nicely with far less powerful static boxes, leaving the software to the guys who run the cloudscape.

Happy thought.

It’s turned beautifully mild outside, though it did rain softly and insistently for most of the day.  I took time off from my daily walks while there was ice on the ground and, following my usual lazy ways, have got out of the habit.  I need to look into that.

For all of my sloth, though, my bad leg is much improved.  I still can’t get a shoe on my left foot without help from Graham,  so there’s still some way to go.  I’ll keep plugging at it, and have a doctor’s appointment on Monday morning.   It’s tempting to just sit back in my cosy corner and wait for Spring, when the darn thing will likely cure itself again.  Mustn’t do that.  One of these years Spring will come round and the self-cure mechanism will fail.  And wouldn’t I be sorry then!
