Busy, busy. Dolly’s been busy sleeping giving moral support. I’ve been busy making tea and coffee on demand and lending a hand now and then when something needs holding for a minute.
And Graham’s been busy putting our living room together enough so that we can have a cozy Christmas by the fireside. The tree is up, but not yet dressed. Most of the interim set of pictures is up. Most of the lighting is done. The full thing will be ready for inspection some time after Christmas or, possibly, very early in the new year.
Meantime, a couple of pictures to record:

That TV has to go.

Looking good! The room is taking on a warm and cozy look, and the fireplace Graham put in is amazing! It’s hard to believe it’s the same space that used to harbor that dreadful carpet. You three should have a very merry Christmas indeed. Congratulations.
Oh how warm and friendly!
It looks great!
Wonderfully well done!
Graham should be in the decorating business. I know decorators who don’t do as lovely a job.
Graham has a real knack for putting together warm and inviting spaces. I’m not convinced on the blocky bit above the fireplace, but then I do lean to the simple wood mantlepiece. I can see it is brilliant. Well done! Now more pictures please!
Wow, it’s beautiful, just lovely.
It’s perfect! Except for the TV
Warm, comfy, cozy, inviting, relaxing — all apply to the above, and lovely to look at comes to mind, as well! If Graham wanted to do that, he’d also make a smashing interior designer, amongst all his other talents.
Ooooo – Ahhhh. Yup, that’s what was said here as we looked at each photo!
Are they the new draperies, John? I’m thinking you had a valance across the top on the old ones.
The cork looks wonderful, warm and inviting. We’ll be over next week after the Christmas rush and I’ll see how it feels on my tootsies! lol.
If I ever win the lottery, I am flying the design team of DollGrahJohn (say it with a french accent) to Tucson to remodel and rebuild my whole house.
Very, very nice, John. Well done, Graham!
Looks like a warm place for the holidaze.
Congratulations!
That is just incredibobble! Makes you want to curl up in its warmth and just grin. Graham has an uncanny knack for knowing “less is more” and choosing exactly the right items to make it so.
Oh what a lovely room in which to cocoon for the winter. Good books, wine, DVDs, a cat, and your loved one–what more could you want?
Gosh I just LOVE what he did with the space.
It does look lovely. I saw a Home Heist episode the other day where they hung a flat-screen TV over the fireplace and then used a picture, framed in a holder that would fit over the TV, to disguise it when it wasn’t in use. Might be worth considering…
Cosy!
You’re right about the TV.
I think the room needs a nice discreet flat-screen on the wall somewere. But don’t mount it high, or you’ll all get pains in the neck.
It looks fantastic ! But it’s crying out for a flat screen T.V. Well done Graham.
It looks lovely. Has Dolly posed on the tiles yet?
Hmmm, yeah, hang a big flat panel screen on the wall over the fireplace… or turn that whole big area above the fireplace into a screen and put a projector in the wall behind the couch.
Lovely! Good luck to you both in figuring out what to do about the tv!
Yes I was thinking projector, too. They’ve got cheaper – unless you need to buy a replacement lamp, then it gets kinda painful.
Beautiful and very inviting! My compliments to Graham! He is a very talented “Welshboy,” indeed!!!
I am so impressed. Graham has a sure talent at this. I’m applauding.
