So there

I was supposed to phone the surgery at 08:00 yesterday (Wednesday) morning to grab an appointment to see the doctor.  Sadly, after a disturbed night, I didn’t wake until 09:30.  And then, after a Wheatabix breakfast, I came over all tired again and went back for more sleep.  Come 11:30, when I woke, I was fully charged once more.  It was too late for an appointment by then so it’ll all have to wait over until tomorrow, when I’m entitled to phone in for a “non-urgent” appointment some day next week.  They run a very strange appointment system and I’m still struggling to learn it.  No problem with the urgent stuff–phone or call and you’re in within four hours, usually a great deal less.  Attempt to get a routine appointment for follow-up activity, though, and they seem to uncover a whole new set of ‘rules’ each time you try.

Sometimes, almost, I half expect the lady on reception to say:  “Don’t you know there’s a war on?”

Hey ho.

So I spent the day lazing about, fetching tea for the tiling man, and generally matching activity (none) with inclination (none).  I need to pull myself together, I know that.  Graham knows it, too, but has better sense (and manners) to say so.  I shall sort it all out my own way, in my own good time.

So there.

  1. No place here do you get an appt. the same day unless it is urgent. Even when I had bronchitis it was two days before I got one.

Sounds like your system is the same as the military here, set hours for calling in.

  2. So now we know it too but won’t say anything either…. :-)

  3. Here’s hoping you day is improving.

  4. Maybe it’s because you didn’t get your ice cream?

    Hugs………

Awww, c’mon, John, get a grip! And smile sweetly as you stick out your foot and trip the ‘gatekeeper. I’ve grown quite surly over the service our both overpaid but also overworked doctors dole out these days along with their scrips and smiles. Wish there were a better solution.
