Acting on a whim, I tried a new thing with Blogger/Google Chrome and the little darlings gave me a clue as to the root cause of my problem here on WordPress.
My caches and cookies had gone wild. So I cleared ‘em, and here we are.
Please ignore all my references to setting up a new journal and moving all my stuff over there. It looks as if we’re home and dry again, even if I do have to consult my little black book and re-enter all my passwords and such as I do my daily thing.
It’s a big relief… Panic over!
Well done
Well done indeed!
And what a relief here too!
Ah – go put your feet up and have a nice glass of wine.
Whew! I feel MUCH better now. Welcome back, John, and well done.
Of course I just bookmarked the new site. rotflmbo!
Oh, jou! He’s back and barely marked anywhere visible. How grand! I always get panicky and feel like I’m being held incommunicado when things like that happen, as they will, most certainly! So the relief here is great to know you are once again COMMUNICATING properly! Huzzah!
Clean out those temp directories every now and again as well. They too can have grief in them if you’re not careful and let them get too large. Believe me, I know.
l learned another trick along those lines today. If a page continues to render incorrectly after doing all that, one can try refreshing while holding down the left shift key. Apparently that gives an instruction to that particular page of, “Really and truly, clear the cache. Yes, I mean it for this page, too. Just clear the cache already and load the new stuff.” As usual, YMMV.
Ah, those rebellious caches and cookies, they can be nasty little critters…
What a relief!
BIG Sigh of Relief!!! I am so very glad you are all squared away, shipshape and Bristol fashion. You watch, I’ll forget Wendy’s tip about the left shift key+Refresh. Is that the same as F5?
