Fair to say

It’s hard to tell if I had a reaction to my seasonal ‘flu jab, yesterday afternoon, or if I’m still suffering the after effects of the digestive problem I reported yesterday morning.  Either way it’s mild and nothing out of the ordinary.  I have bad days.  I have good days.  I’ve learned to live with it.

I’m told that I will be called for my swine ‘flu jab some time in early December which is fine by me.  I don’t like the idea of having two lots swimming around in my system at the same time.

It’s quiet in all other regards.  Graham has washed all the windows.  I’ve been noodling at a new poem.  Dolly has decided it’s too chilly out for a self-respecting mega cat who’s been robbed of great clumps of her coat.  And there’s a bloke across the road doing something noisy and protracted with a power tool of some kind.

Normal for Neath, I think it fair to say.

  1. I’m with you – I’d rather have one shot at a time. Still waiting for the next shipment of seasonal flu vaccine at my Doctors office. I’ll get that, then wait a few weeks and get the pneumonia vaccine.

  2. I also would rather just put off, maybe altogether, leaving the H1 thing for those at worst risk. Something to be said about not socializing I guess. :-)

I agree with Bonnie, no interest in the H1 flu shots. And my husband, after seeing how sick I was after my seasonal flu shot, says he won’t get either. :(

  4. My worry is an allergy reaction to the base that carries the vaccine. I hope Graham got his shot too.

  5. I got the flu for the first time since I was 14, shortly after getting the seasonal flu shot when Mom was dying and asked my family to get it (for her protection, so we wouldn’t bring the flu to her. Flawed logic, I think, but we cooperated). Since then I seem to get a flu every winter. What sense makes this?
I don’t trust vaccines to be effective or even safe, so this H1N1 thing is scary. A school girl in a town a half-hour’s drive from here died from it yesterday morning, I’ve been told. Waiting for details.

  6. I don’t believe the H1 vaccine is intended to totally prevent one from getting the disease, but rather to give SOME protection, PLUS! reducing the severity of it, if you do get it. Since I’m 86 and already in frail health, I’m of a mixed mind as to whether to go for it, or not. Just my luck to pick up the ‘bug’ sitting in the waiting room and pfffft!
