Watch your step

Today is the start of Graham’s last full week at the holiday camp and the day when the trannies descend in a cloud of cheap perfume and camiknickers.

For once I’m glad I’m not there.  I have three memories of the only week I did meet the trannies.  One, standing at the bar between two fully ‘dressed’ blokes before scurrying off with my brandy and american to sit safe in a corner out of the way.  Two, seeing a group having a tea party, all in billowing afternoon frocks and sipping at bone-china cups, little fingers daintily poised.  Three, walking through the long bar, having to step over boozed-up trannies flopped out on the floor.

I’ve nothing against trannies but I have to say that I find their proximity en masse to be disconcerting.  This is not my scene.  Not no way it isn’t, even though I do love Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

And so Dolly and I enter into our last week of what has been a long, long home alone period.  I’m able to vacuum and dust the whole house now in just over an hour each day.  The rest of the time we snooze companionably together, not making a mess.

It’ll soon be done now.

  1. One last week to get all the bagpipe music played!

  2. I can’t imagine that scene and don’t know how Graham tolerates the silliness. Oh that’s right, he is younger than I as he still goes to concerts. :-)

  3. Im sure the whole thing must be a touch bazzare… “Trannycamp” pun intended is taxing, and a whole week of it I cant immagine

  4. Every time you mention the trannies at camp I don’t think of Priscilla, I think of the Little Britain skits with Emily, who is A Lady, who likes Ladies Things. Cracks me right up!

  5. Pretty soon you can go back to creating messes again. Oh, hurrah. I would love to see pictures of the tea party……it sounds just delightful if disconcerting. I smile at the thought.

  6. Okay, what does “brandy and american” mean? Well, I know what brandy is… but what is the “american” part? I thought perhaps “American whiskey” but I can’t imagine combining brandy and whiskey. (But what do I know… I’m pretty much a beer and wine drinker.)

It’s dry ginger ale, Jim. You might know it as Canadian Dry?

  7. I’d hate you folks to think I wouldn’t go to rock concerts, even at my age, if I could manage the standing. More than ten minutes on my feet, standing still in one place, and I start feeling poorly. At a rock concert you have to stand. Graham says that if I agree he’ll take me in a wheelchair but I don’t feel ready for that quite yet!

i’d reccomend your waiting a bit longer, John, until your hearing gets a bit impaired and then you might be able to sustain the number of decibels assaulting your ears without losing your hearing entirely., You ever notcie Graham was a wee bit hard of hearing after one? It happens.
