The day we went to Mumbles

We went to ”The Mumbles’ today–a seaside village the other side of Swansea bay from where we live.  It was grand.  It was sunny.  The holiday-making world is waking in readiness for Easter and the season beyond.

We had a rather nice little nibble lunch in the pavilion at the end of Mumbles Pier, and ice-cream cone as we wandered along the prom, and we gazed out at the light-house before tripping along the pier.

It was good.  We had fun.  Together with my long walk around Carmarthen yesterday my legs got to the point where the veinous system was fizzing and spluttering like an old two-stroke petrol engine fired up after a long period of stagnation.

I’m sure it’ll do me good, in a day or two.  For the moment I’m plumb tuckered out, and there are things happening in my legs that haven’t happened since last year.

Ain’t Spring grand?

Here are some photos of the day:

And so, at the end of a tiring day, … to bed.

What a wonderful day you had. I love the photos, especially the lifeboat station, which is amazing. Walking in the sun, eating ice cream. Yum.

  2. What a lovely day! I wouldn’t want to clean the mud off the children’s toys. :-)

  3. Grand photos John, I feel as though I’ve had a day at the seaside myself :)
“Gazing across the bay to Swansea” now that is ‘home’ to me…….

Thanks for the wonderful fresh air and sunshine that you allowed me to enjoy along with you, It was, indeed, a lovely day, and YOU are looking well. Just keep it that way, please.

  5. John, I like the first photo and I like the last one, which is even better than the first one. It’s great, love the silhouettes, just wondering if the left one is Graham and the right one you?

  6. I wish I was there….

  7. PS: Oh sorry, wanted to put a smiley after “… which was even better than the first one”. So here it is… :-) :-) :-)

  8. Well, you’ve just got to love a town called Mumbles. Is it really, or is that a nickname? In any case, looks like you both had a marvelous day — and thank you for the wealth of photos. Always welcome, those photos.

I just love it when you post photos, John. Your shot of Swansea looks as if we’re standing there with you and Graham. I’d also like to be a little kid again, playing mystery games on the shore! That photo makes me want to kick my shoes off and wiggle my toes in the wet sand.

So glad you’re getting out and about.

  10. Great photographs!

  11. And I meant to add that the looking down from outer space photographs on Google maps of Mumbles are very good — it was as if I were looking down at the pier as you two rambled along it. I wanted to wave at the computer screen.

  12. Oh, how I miss the smell of the sea. Could you please repost using the html /smellosivion tag?

  13. Um… smelloViSion. Heh. Early morning typing error!

  14. A simply wonderful day too. Thank you.
