A jolly sight

Rather static today, with little progress.  I’m planning on chicken (southern fried style) with grilled vegetables and a hearty pile of chips for our dinner this evening and I’m salivating at the thought.  Cough or not, I reckon that if your appetite is healthy you’re likely to survive.

To Sainsbury’s this morning, feeling good and it wasn’t until we were well into the city that Graham realized I’d been driving too fast.  Hey ho.  The road was clear, the going was good and I simply didn’t notice the beginning of the 30 mph limit.  I doubt if I was much over it.  Not sure there are any speed cameras on that stretch but time will tell.  I’ll not grumble if I’ve been caught but it would be sad to get the penalty points on my licence just as it’s been cleaned.

“You’re right,” Graham said as I caught up with him outside the entrance to the store.  ”You are losing weight.”

“Well, thanks.  That’s encouraging.”

“Don’t get over-confident.  It’ll be a good while before you need a tummy tuck.”

I’m sure he’s right, and I’ll not over-do it.  Even so, his words helped me decide against having a nice custardy desert to follow my lunch.  And, I ain’t telling anyone, but there’s beginning to be a bit of space between me and the belt of my trousers.  We shall have to see.  I’d like to be thin again, just one more time.

So, the antibiotics are helping but I have a feeling this is not quite the end of the story.  They take old ‘uns with persistent coughs into hospital for three days of intensive medication these days.  The thought of that makes me determined to get rid of the darn thing more than almost anything else.  I do not like hospitals.

And there we are.  Somewhere over there, the last of the daylight is falling on quiet seas and, closer to home, the last of the sunshine is bathing the hill in a golden light.  I’ve seen daffodils today.  Lots of them.  And the sun, and the golden hillside is almost as jolly a sight.
