It makes yer wonder

Graham’s resumed his internal doors restoration task.  There are a lot of doors in this house.  I think that he mentioned seventeen the last time he spoke of it.  At the approximate cost of £300 each, that’s £2,400 he’s saved us.  I must remember an extra-luxurious Easter Egg for him this year.

Hey ho.  Things are settling down nicely again.  My cough is through the disgusting stage and sinking to a background activity, useful for filling those quiet moments of the day and night when you seek something other than silence.  And the weather, well, the weather seems to be roving up and down the dials of some celestial climate machine;  today we’ve had warm sun in blue skies, torrential rain,  a thick snow shower and now, at the end of the afternoon, a sky that’s as close to black as you’re likely to get this side of the apocalypse.

Yesterday or the day before, so I’m informed, an asteroid passed within 45,000 miles of our dozy planet, unannounced and undetected.  That’s a fifth the distance between Earth and the Moon, and no more than three times the highest geostationary satellite orbit.  About the same size as the Tunguska impact in 1908.

Makes yer wonder.

Dear Gordon, our beloved Prime Minister, seems to have scored a hit in addressing both houses of the U.S. Congress, calling on resources from Roosevelt to Jesus to achieve a standing ovation score that makes my knees ache in sympathy.

That makes yer wonder, too.

Oh well.  Time to go clean up after Dolly who just chucked up in the hall.  Shiny waterproof cork floors are a blessing.  Enough to make yer wonder, I’m sure.
