“I need to go to B&Q for some PVA to seal the floor,” said Graham.
“Fine. We can go on from there to Sainsbury’s for some bibs and bobs of fresh produce if the roads are OK.”
We got the PVA with no problem and now Graham is happy, with a project almost ready to go. A stack of new cork tiles arrived yesterday, were unpacked, and re-stacked in the living room ready to be laid in the hall and cloakroom. I need to take a ‘before’ picture and some progress photos over the weekend.
This project is what we’ve come to term Plan ‘A’, where the horrid dark green carpet is replaced with lovely clean cork. If it works, and if we like the results, we’re contemplating putting down cork throughout the bungalow, room by room. We priced hardwood flooring–oak planking–and at the moment have taken the view that it’s too expensive. We’ve also looked at good quality carpet, which costs about the same as the cork.
It all depends on the success of Plan ‘A’.
Although there is plenty of snow and ice around the Kingdom still, and more forecast, our immediate area is pretty well clear and dry except up on the hilltops. Today the sun shone, the sky turned blue, and it was hard to believe that ice and snow have blocked the roads into England, only eighty miles away. I’ll count my blessings, and keep looking up at the hills.
