America’s moment

I solved my computer problems.

Then I sat down to watch the inauguration.

Not a lot else for me to say right now, for this is America’s moment and it’s for America to say what is important now, today.

Tomorrow, let’s hope we are all of us, all over the world, a little closer to freedom, peace and happiness.

  1. Amen, John.

  2. I watched, now I have Hope that things will improve and that we might even have an outbreak of Peace.

  3. John, it is my fervent hope that it has already started.

Congratulations on solving your computer problem.

  4. Although I live near DC, I watched the ceremony on TV because I did not want my tears to freeze. I am inspired and hopeful for my country.

  5. Thank you

I found myself smiling for the entire two hours I sat and watched. Hope lives!

  7. Courage and God speed, Mr. President are about all I can say. He’ll need both.

  8. Yes, we are a little closer!

  9. I watched it on TV while at work – the live stream was a stuttering stream, but we got the gist of it. This is a wonderful day in the USA!

  10. It was both moving and a little scary. He really thinks if we all get busy, we can help him solve what seems to me to be insurmountable problems. Judging by the mood of that gigantic crowd, he has a lot of people behind him.

    God bless and protect him.

  11. I watched today also — which, as far as I can remember, the first time I ever watched an inauguration live. (Although I do have vague memories of watching parts of Kennedy’s inauguration, that is probably just memories of evening news playback because I would have been in school at the time.)

    I liked his speech.

@ Ava “Judging by the mood of that gigantic crowd, he has a lot of people behind him. ”

The problem with having a crowd behind you is that some of them tend to push. ;)

  13. Great day for the USA, John, and it’s been a long time coming.

There’s a different feel to it already, in spite of all the challenges to come, people are smiling again. :-)

  14. Simply moving Bush out of the White House is a big step towards peace and economic recovery. His group of thieves will have to find another home. I voted for him twice so blame me.

  15. I am so very proud of my country and all it stands for throughout the world.
I have watched every inauguration since Kennedy and it never fails to thrill.

  16. I have been watching, dusting, sneezing, crying, smiling, tomorrow I shall try to write something sensible.

  17. From this side of the Pond, we say “Amen” to that.

  18. We were late getting to work because we couldn’t tear ourselves away from watching the Inauguration.

I can’t tell you what a pleasure it is to have an articulate, intelligent, aware human being in that job again.

  19. amen to that!!

  20. Hope, that’s the key to all of this.

  21. Mr. Obama is an intelligent, idealistic, hard-working man. He needs all the help he can get. I am encouraged by the fact that he is a scholar of the U. S. Constitution, as well as that he has worked as a community organiser amongst poor folks.

I’m making a resolution to stay in close touch with my Congressional representative and both my Senators. (One of the nice things about coming from a smaller state, I know my representative personally.)

  22. I’m glad your computer problems are taken care of.

  23. I’ve seen quite a few U.S. elections and inaugurations but I cannot recall a political occasion when so many people of every background, every race, have expressed such a sense of hope and release as in this case. It is as if we have been set free. Now we hope progress can be made towards setting our nation right again.
