… and on with the new

It’s a lovely, sunny morning, fit to start a New Year.  And, on such a morning, what could be a better coffee and snack than the first slice of a brand new panettone?

So, there we are.  A new year.  A new volume of the journal, and off we go again.

I wish you all the happiest and most peaceful of New Years.  They tell us 2009 is going to be a tough one.  We’ll pull through, especially if we all pull together.

 Technical note:

WordPress will, so far as I know, allow you to ‘grow’ a blog without limit and, in my first attempt, I did so.  Sadly, there is a quite low limit on the size of the blog for copy/restore/backup purposes and I fell foul of that without knowing what I was doing.

From now on, then, I shall be keeping my online journal in annual ‘volumes’, each one a separate WordPress blog.  This is the first entry in volume 12.

I hope to be able to find the time to strip the old archives back into volumes in the same way.  Meantime, the volume/year list at the top of the sidebar links to the beginning of each year.

It makes sense to me, and it’ll get done.  Eventually.  And, in case you should get the wrong impression, I really like WordPress, and intend to go on using it as long as I can.
